Pertina expels 5 boxers from training

JAKARTA (JP): The Indonesian Amateur Boxing Association
(Pertina) expelled five boxers from its 2001 Kuala Lumpur
Southeast Asian (SEA) Games training program at the Ragunan
sports school early this month.

Antara reported on Thursday that the Pertina head of the
technical commission, Ferry Moniaga, declined to state the
reasons for expelling the athletes, but said the decision was
made after a plenary meeting with Pertina officials.

The five athletes are flyweight Dedek Chandra, featherweight
Benny Mongan, lightweight Thomas Kellyombar, light welterweight
Cosmos Awom and welterweight Ade Alfons. (yan)
