Pertamina's Two Main Priorities in Response to NTT Earthquake
PT Pertamina has taken swift action to help victims of the earthquake disaster in the Flores region, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), on Monday (17/8/2026). Amid the post-disaster mourning, Pertamina President Director Simon Aloysius Mantiri visited the affected location directly to distribute aid while leading the commemoration ceremony for the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia.
The independence commemoration ceremony was held at the Reo Fuel Terminal (FT) in NTT, one of the areas affected by the earthquake and a crucial operational point for Pertamina in the region. The presence of Pertamina’s top leadership served as a symbol of moral support for residents and frontline workers.
“On behalf of the Pertamina family, I express my deepest condolences for the loss of life and my concern for all affected communities. In accordance with the directive of President Prabowo Subianto, Pertamina is present directly to support the acceleration of disaster management, with the safety and fulfilment of residents’ basic needs as the top priority. The people of NTT are not alone,” said Simon Aloysius Mantiri in his statement on Monday (17/8).
Responding to the 7.7 magnitude earthquake, Pertamina Group has focused its operations on two main priorities: ensuring energy availability and distributing urgent relief aid. Active coordination continues with various parties to ensure the fuel and LPG supply chain remains uninterrupted.
Pertamina Vice President of Corporate Communication Muhammad Baron explained that the restoration of energy service facilities is being carried out in stages. To date, most petrol stations in Flores have returned to normal operation while continuing to prioritise occupational safety aspects.
“Through the Pertamina Peduli programme, aid in the form of tents, medicines, basic food packages, and sanitation and health supplies has been distributed since the second day after the earthquake. We continue to adjust the aid to the actual needs on the ground so that its benefits are optimal for residents,” said Baron.
In addition to logistical assistance, Pertamina is also strengthening infrastructure recovery by preparing diesel fuel supplies for heavy equipment. This step is crucial for addressing landslide points along the Trans-Flores Ende–Bajawa road section so that land transport connectivity can be restored.
Pertamina is also giving special attention to other strategic points, including operating the 2026 Ramadan-Idulfitri Task Force to ensure fuel, LPG, and gas supplies remain secure during Ramadan through the Lebaran homecoming period.
