Pertamina's Swift Action to Secure Energy Supply After NTT Earthquake Praised
The Indonesian Consumer Empowerment Forum (FKBI) has expressed appreciation for the swift action taken by Pertamina in maintaining the stability of energy distribution and the delivery of humanitarian aid following the earthquake in Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT). This effort is considered crucial to ensure that the basic needs of the community continue to be met during the emergency period.
FKBI Chairman Tulus Abadi emphasised that the availability of fuel is the most vital factor in disaster management. According to him, energy has a domino effect on the smooth distribution of logistics, food supplies, clean water, and the operation of public services.
“Pertamina’s swift action in NTT is very urgent and indeed necessary. Without a stable energy supply, the distribution of food, drinking water, and other logistical needs will be disrupted,” said Tulus on Monday (17/8/2026).
Tulus added that during the emergency response phase, the main focus is to prevent fuel and LPG shortages. He suggested that energy distribution be secured through various modes of transport, whether land, sea, or air, given the potential disruption to transport access caused by the earthquake.
“Affected areas must be a priority. There must be no shortages, because energy needs actually increase during emergencies, especially for the use of generators when there is a power outage,” he added.
Based on internal company data, Pertamina continues to work on restoring fuel filling facilities in the affected areas, particularly in Flores, NTT. In addition to ensuring energy security, the Pertamina Group is also moving to distribute humanitarian aid. VP Corporate Communication of Pertamina Patra Niaga, Kitty Andhora, stated that teams in the field continue to coordinate to accurately map the needs of residents.
“The assistance provided includes basic needs such as tents, medicines, food, and other essential items. Previously, the Reo Fuel Terminal had also distributed food aid to communities in the surrounding area,” explained Kitty.
In line with this, Vice President Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Muhammad Baron, affirmed that the company is committed to strengthening the distribution of fuel and LPG through various alternative routes to overcome transport access constraints.
“We continue to strengthen distribution while prioritising safety and energy reliability for the people of NTT,” concluded Baron.
