Pertamina's Strategy to Maintain Supply Amid Global Turbulence
PT Pertamina (Persero) is preparing various mitigation steps to address global dynamics, including conflicts in the Middle East region, to ensure that national energy availability remains maintained. The volatile global situation is considered potentially to affect the world’s energy supply chain, thus requiring synergy among various parties to maintain the continuity of BBM and LPG distribution.
Pertamina’s Vice President of Corporate Communication, Muhammad Baron, stated that the company has prepared various operational scenarios, including mitigation plans and contingency plans, so that energy supplies continue to run optimally.
“As a national energy company, Pertamina has implemented mitigation plans and contingency plans to ensure that energy supplies continue to run well,” said Baron.
One strategic step taken is the diversification of energy supply sources, so as not to depend on a single region or country. This strategy is expected to maintain supply stability, especially when distribution disruptions occur due to geopolitical dynamics.
In addition, Pertamina is strengthening coordination with the government to ensure the optimisation of national energy supplies and support various strategic policies in the energy sector. In terms of distribution, supervision is also tightened through cooperation with law enforcement agencies and local governments.
“Pertamina, together with law enforcement agencies and Local Governments, continues to conduct field supervision to ensure that BBM and LPG distribution runs smoothly, while also supporting law enforcement against hoarding practices or misuse of energy,” added Baron.
Furthermore, the current global dynamics are described as external factors that must be addressed collectively by the government, business actors, and society. Therefore, Pertamina will continue to optimise various steps to maintain national energy resilience.
As part of these efforts, the public is also urged to use energy wisely and according to needs. The utilisation of alternative energy, such as the use of household electrical appliances for cooking or heating food, can be one solution to manage energy consumption more efficiently.
“In line with the President’s appeal, Pertamina invites all of society to jointly use energy wisely as part of efforts to maintain national energy resilience,” Baron concluded.
