Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Pertamina Patra Niaga has assured that fuel distribution in eastern Indonesia remains stable by relying on sea routes, one of which is through the Wayame Fuel Terminal in Ambon, for energy distribution in the Maluku region.

“Energy distribution via sea routes serves as the backbone in reaching island areas,” stated Corporate Secretary of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, Roberth M. V. Dumatubun, in a statement received in Jakarta on Saturday.

As Pertamina’s Downstream Subholding, Pertamina Patra Niaga continues to optimise sea-based energy distribution systems to address the geographical challenges of island regions.

Support from an integrated tanker fleet ensures that fuel supplies are delivered on time and sustainably.

Energy distribution to the Wayame Fuel Terminal is supported by a fleet operating sustainably via sea routes, using Medium Range (MR) Tankers and General Purpose Tankers.

The involved fleet includes PIS Cepu, Matindok, Merauke, Krasak, Klawotong, and Katomas, with capacities ranging from 17,500 DWT to 50,000 DWT, enabling the transport of large quantities of fuel while reaching ports with certain limitations.

“We ensure operational readiness and fleet availability so that energy supplies remain evenly distributed, especially in eastern Indonesia,” he said.

With Ambon’s strategic position as an energy distribution hub in the eastern region, optimising sea routes is key to strengthening national energy resilience while ensuring fair and equitable energy access to island areas and 3T regions, all while prioritising safety and environmental protection.
