Pertamina's LLA-5 well production exceeds target

PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore North West Java (PHE ONWJ) has recorded production from the LLA-5 well reaching 780 barrels per day, exceeding the initial target of 300 barrels per day. “The successful drilling of the LLA-5 Well is clear evidence that the reserve potential in the offshore area of northern West Java remains very promising for further development,” said PHE ONWJ General Manager Muzwir Wiratama in an official statement received in Jakarta on Wednesday. The LLA-5 well began operations on 26 June 2026. Pertamina assessed the quality of the crude oil lifted as very good, with a very minimal water content of three percent. Muzwir said the search for oil at sea was not without obstacles. Pertamina faced technical challenges, but the field team successfully overcame all of them despite the high-risk nature of the work. Currently, the LLA-5 well is still in the initial clean-up stage, with the estimated oil production rate potentially increasing further. This additional oil extends the lifespan of national oil production, which has been declining recently, a normal condition for oil and gas production sourced from mature fields. “This is a strong asset for us to continue the next drilling programme, with the LLA-7 Well,” Muzwir stated. The Regional Java division has been given authority by PHE to coordinate upstream oil and gas fields in the western Java region, including PHE ONWJ, PHE OSES, Pertamina EP West Java, and Pertamina East Natuna. The Regional Java working area covers the provinces of DKI Jakarta, Banten, Lampung, Bangka Belitung, and West Java.
