PT Kilang Pertamina Balikpapan (KPB) and PT Pertamina Trans Kontinental (PTK) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding concerning Port Management Bundling, encompassing port services, marine and construction support for a Single Point Mooring (SPM) facility with a capacity of 320,000 Deadweight Tonnage (DWT) and a jetty. This strengthening of synergy represents an effort to develop integrated and reliable national energy infrastructure management in the maritime sector. The signing was conducted in Balikpapan by KPB President Director Bambang Harimurti and PTK Acting President Director Eko Cahyadi on Friday, 5 June 2026. Through this cooperation, PTK will support various operational activities at KPB’s port and marine terminal facilities. This support ranges from piloting vessel berthing and unberthing at the SPM, to operational services at New Jetty 6A, as well as routine inspection and maintenance of facilities. KPB President Director Bambang Harimurti stated that this strategic cooperation is expected to ensure all infrastructure operates safely, smoothly, and reliably to support the smooth distribution of crude oil and refinery products. ‘The Balikpapan Refinery has been greatly assisted by the services provided by PTK to date. It is hoped that this synergy can proceed to the next stage, resulting in service continuity and increasingly harmonious cooperation,’ Bambang said. Entering the initial operational phase of the Balikpapan Refinery Development Master Plan (RDMP) Project, the integration of supporting infrastructure has become crucial. One strategic asset ready for operation is the SPM mooring facility with a capacity of 320,000 DWT at Lawe-Lawe. This facility is specifically designed to serve giant crude oil tankers, which then flow oil through pipelines to the Lawe-Lawe Crude Terminal to supply feedstock to the Balikpapan Refinery. PTK Acting President Director Eko Cahyadi explained that through this collaboration, PTK will provide long-term port and marine services. These services are expected to support the process of vessel berthing and crude oil transfer more effectively and efficiently. He noted that this Pertamina Group synergy is a vital part of maintaining the reliability of the refinery’s operational supply chain while strengthening national energy security. ‘As a company engaged in integrated marine logistics, PTK is ready to deliver port, marine and construction services that prioritise maximum occupational health and safety, operational reliability, and operational efficiency,’ Eko stated.
