Pertamina: Worker dedication key to recovery in NTT

PT Pertamina Patra Niaga has stated that the dedication of its field workers has been a crucial part of the energy supply recovery process following the earthquake that struck East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) on 15 August 2026.

VP Corporate Communication of Pertamina Patra Niaga, Kitty Andhora, said in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday that the continuity of energy services in the disaster-affected areas could not be separated from the dedication of workers who continued to carry out their duties in the field, even though some of them and their families were affected by the earthquake.

“We appreciate all petrol station operators, tanker truck crews, and employees who continued to serve the public in difficult circumstances. Some of them were also affected and have family members still in evacuation shelters, yet they continued to carry out their duties so that fuel remains available and disaster response efforts can continue,” she said.

Kitty highlighted one such worker, Fergilus Edy, an operator at petrol station 54.865.01 Mena Ruteng, who was still at home with his family when the earthquake struck at around 06.00 WITA.

However, about an hour later, Fergilus had already made his way to the petrol station to carry out his duties.

“After the earthquake occurred, I was already at my workplace by around seven in the morning. We remained open and served the public. We prioritised ambulances, disaster response vehicles, and vehicles carrying basic necessities to the villages,” said Fergilus.

Meanwhile, Hendrikus Nuba, a tanker truck crew member, continued to safeguard fuel supply journeys to the affected areas, even though his family remains in an evacuation shelter to this day.

“As a tanker truck crew member, it is our duty to continue serving the public under any circumstances. We want the people of Manggarai not to have difficulty obtaining fuel,” he said.

Kitty added that during the recovery period, Pertamina Patra Niaga has also deployed tanker truck assistance from the Bima Integrated Terminal in West Nusa Tenggara to support fuel distribution to the affected areas.

This support has helped petrol station services continue operating alongside the restoration of facilities and distribution access following the earthquake.
