State-owned energy company PT Pertamina (Persero) has reaffirmed its commitment to improving human resource quality by providing young Indonesians with access to professional work experience through the 2026 Pertamina Internship programme.

VP Talent Development & Recruitment at Pertamina, Muhammad Aryomekka Firdaus, stated that the internship marks a significant moment for the participants. “Today is the first day for our internship colleagues joining the Pertamina Group, marked by the signing of their internship employment contracts,” Aryomekka said during the Internship 2026 onboarding event at the Pertamina WanitaPatra Building in Simprug, Jakarta.

According to him, the internship programme is one of Pertamina’s efforts to enhance human resource quality while simultaneously opening wider access for the younger generation to gain work experience. The opportunity was offered openly through the Pertamina Talent Candidate platform. A total of 539 selected participants will undertake a one-year internship across the entire Pertamina Group.

The participants were chosen from a pool of 94,176 applicants who underwent the selection process for this year’s programme, a figure that has tripled compared to the previous year’s applicants. “This is our effort to provide the widest possible opportunity for the public to join Pertamina, whether through recruitment or internship,” he added.

Aryomekka expressed hope that participants would gain maximum benefits during the programme. Conversely, Pertamina also expects to gain new insights and perspectives from the younger generation, particularly Generation Z.

One of the 2026 Pertamina Internship participants, Putri Astrian, revealed that the selection and acceptance process was swift, taking about one month. She expressed pride in being selected from tens of thousands of applicants. “Pertamina remains everyone’s dream company, and I hope to gain experience and learn as much as possible during the internship programme,” said the Padjajaran University alumna.

The Pertamina Internship programme is designed as an integrated and systematic work training system under the guidance and supervision of mentors. Participants are not only equipped with applicable business skills and expertise but also gain real-life practical working experience through various projects, preparing them to become reliable professionals.

VP Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Muhammad Baron, said the internship is the company’s way of nurturing new energy. “Through this internship, participants gain work experience in a corporate environment that manages the basic needs of many people. This will certainly be a very beneficial experience for the participants in the future,” Baron stated. He expressed hope that by gaining work experience at Pertamina, the participants can enhance their abilities while also developing a high level of social awareness.
