PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Jawa Timur Bali Nusa Tenggara (Jatimbalinus) is urging the public who use subsidised fuel oil (BBM) to regularly reset their QR Code for the Subsidi Tepat programme to avoid misuse. Area Manager for Communications, Relations & CSR at Pertamina Patra Niaga in the Jatimbalinus region, Ahad Rahedi, stated when contacted from Kupang on Friday (8/5/2026) that this step is taken to improve data security and prevent misuse of BBM quotas by irresponsible parties. “To enhance data security and prevent misuse of BBM quotas by irresponsible parties, we recommend regularly resetting the QR Code for Subsidi Tepat,” he said. He explained that issues such as indications of one user’s barcode being used by another person often occur, especially related to vehicle registration numbers that have changed hands. To reset the QR Code, he said that a Pertamina helpdesk is available at every petrol station (SPBU). Therefore, if consumers encounter difficulties in resetting, they are encouraged not to hesitate to seek assistance from SPBU staff. “If there are any issues, you can report them to us or the Pertamina contact centre at 135,” he stated. Once they have a new QR Code, he urged the public not to carelessly share the barcode with others. He added that if indications of barcode misuse are found, the public is advised to immediately report the issue to Pertamina for investigation. “Pertamina is clear and firm on the sanctions imposed if violations are found at Pertamina distribution institutions,” he said. In recent days, there have been complaints from the public in Kupang city about difficulties in refuelling subsidised BBM at several SPBUs because the fuel quota has exceeded the limit, even though the vehicle owner has not yet refuelled with subsidised BBM. Additionally, the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Police have uncovered a case of subsidised BBM misuse. One of the methods used is using someone else’s QR Code. As many as 40 people are potential suspects in that case.
