Pamekasan (ANTARA) - Pertamina Patra Niaga appreciates the swift actions and firm measures taken by the East Java Regional Police in uncovering alleged criminal acts of misuse of subsidised fuel oil and LPG, and invites all elements to monitor energy distribution to ensure it is on target.

Executive General Manager for Jatimbalinus at Pertamina Patra Niaga, Iwan Yudha Wibawa, stated that the price difference between subsidised and non-subsidised fuel oil and LPG is the main factor behind the misuse.

“Therefore, I invite all stakeholders and the public to jointly monitor energy distribution,” he said in a written statement delivered to the media in Pamekasan, East Java, on Friday.

This enforcement is an effort to maintain the distribution of subsidised fuel oil and LPG so that it reaches the right targets and protects the public from illegal practices that cause harm.

The case is a serious concern because it affects the broad interests of the public and the sustainability of the national energy subsidy policy.

From the results of the uncovering, it is known that the potential state loss is estimated to reach around Rp7.5 billion from 66 cases of misuse of subsidised fuel oil and LPG throughout January to April 2026.

The police also recorded several modus operandi used by the perpetrators, including the use of modified vehicles for repeated refuelling, purchasing subsidised fuel for hoarding and resale, using multiple barcodes, and mixing 3-kilogram LPG into non-subsidised cylinders.

According to Area Manager for Communication, Relations and CSR at Jatimbalinus, Ahad Rahedi, Pertamina Patra Niaga supports and appreciates law enforcement authorities in cracking down on the misuse of subsidised fuel oil and LPG.

“We are very grateful and support the efforts carried out by the Indonesian National Police and also the TNI, especially in firmly cracking down and fully supporting the law enforcement process against parties or individuals involved in illegal practices,” he said.

Ahad emphasised that Pertamina Patra Niaga is fully committed to ensuring the distribution of 3 kg subsidised fuel oil and LPG runs according to regulations and on target, and does not tolerate any deviations at the distribution level.

“We have carried out various monitoring and oversight efforts on our partners and distribution institutions. If proven to have violated, of course, criminally it will be decided under applicable law. In addition, we will also impose firm sanctions, ranging from guidance to Business Relationship Termination (PHU),” he said.

Pertamina Patra Niaga urges the public to purchase fuel at official petrol stations and LPG at official green-placarded depots, ensure cylinders are sealed, and use LPG wisely according to needs.

The public is expected to play an active role in reporting indications of misuse of subsidised fuel oil and LPG to law enforcement authorities or through the Pertamina Contact Center at 135.
