Banda Aceh — Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sumatera Bagian Utara (Sumbagut) has urged residents of Aceh not to panic, saying fuel (BBM) and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) supplies are sufficient to meet demand through Eid al-Fitr.

‘We urge the public to remain calm and not engage in panic buying, because our energy supplies are being maintained and distributed effectively,’ said Fahrougi Andriani Sumampouw, Area Manager for Communication, Relations & CSR at Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sumbagut, in a statement received in Banda Aceh on Thursday.

He explained that Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sumbagut continues to ensure the availability of BBM and LPG for the public.

He noted that several precautionary steps have been taken, ranging from stock build-up and strengthening distribution facilities to active coordination with relevant parties.

Pertamina has also undertaken a range of service-strengthening measures as a precaution against potential increased energy consumption during the period, including stock build-up and ensuring readiness of distribution facilities and infrastructure.

According to him, these measures are intended to ensure energy distribution to the public operates smoothly, safely, and in a measured manner.

Moreover, he added, Pertamina is continuing to implement mitigation steps to maintain energy supply resilience, including distribution optimisations so that public needs are met across all operational areas, including Sumatera Bagian Utara.

He said that as an integrated energy company, Pertamina is supported by an interconnected and reinforcing value chain, from upstream sectors, refinery processing, to distribution to the public.

Pertamina is also continuing to ensure energy supplies are distributed optimally to various regions, including Sumatera Bagian Utara.

On the occasion, he also reiterated that the public should not worry about energy availability during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr.

Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sumbagut also urged the public to use energy wisely, efficiently, and according to needs.

He also asked the public not to engage in excessive purchases, because energy stocks are kept safe with a measured distribution approach.

Additionally, the public was reminded not to hoard BBM or LPG, as such actions breach applicable regulations and carry legal consequences.

Pertamina expressed appreciation for the support of the government, authorities, stakeholders, and all members of the public who helped maintain smooth energy distribution.

He said that with synergy and collective support, Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sumbagut will continue to provide Layanan Sepenuh Hati [Wholehearted Service] to ensure the public’s energy needs are well met.

In the same statement, he also clarified circulating messages via messaging apps and social media urging people to immediately fill their vehicle tanks, even to use jerrycans. He said the information is not true, as energy distribution to the public is currently normal and fuel stocks in Aceh and the Sibolga area are secure and continuously distributed according to public needs.

Pertamina urges the public to be more discerning in receiving and sharing information, and not to trust chain messages from unclear sources that do not reflect the facts.
