PT Pertamina (Persero) has officially commenced the regional coaching stage of the Pertamina UMK Academy 2026. The programme’s launch was marked by a kick-off event held online on 9 September 2026.

More than 1,500 Micro and Small Enterprise (UMK) players from various regions across Indonesia have been selected, having successfully passed the initial screening from over 4,000 applicants. The Pertamina UMK Academy is a multi-level coaching programme designed to help small business owners improve competence, strengthen business governance, develop products, utilise technology, expand market access, and build productive business networks.

The Deputy for Small Business at the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, Temmy Satya Permana, stated that comprehensive and sustainable coaching is essential to help local entrepreneurs enhance their capabilities, quality, and competitiveness. “The UMK coaching programme is expected to encourage entrepreneurs to apply the knowledge gained, gain market access, and scale up their businesses,” Temmy said, as quoted from a written statement on Friday (11/9/2026).

Vice President of CSR & SMEPP at Pertamina, Rudi Arifianto, noted that enthusiasm among small business owners for the programme has been high. “Within 11 days, more than 4,290 UMK players from almost all provinces in Indonesia registered,” said Rudi.

Rudi detailed that during the regional stage, participants will receive training in business management, market access facilitation, and guidance from competent and experienced facilitators, mentors, and accelerators. After completing the regional stage, participants will undergo evaluation and selection to proceed to the national stage. Selected participants will receive more in-depth material, more challenging practical learning, and increasingly intensive mentoring.

“Participants who pass to the national stage will attend four ‘Go’ classes, namely Go Modern, Go Digital, Go Online, and Go Global, depending on the development of their businesses,” Rudi explained.

The Vice President of Corporate Communication at Pertamina, Muhammad Baron, stated that the selection of over 1,500 UMKs marks the beginning of Pertamina’s coaching journey in supporting local entrepreneurs to strengthen various aspects of their businesses. The high number of applicants also reflects the great spirit of small business owners to continue learning and growing.

“Pertamina hopes that the 2026 UMK Academy participants can utilise this opportunity to gain knowledge, strengthen business management, increase quality and capability, build networks, and expand market access,” Baron explained. Baron added that the coaching is expected to drive UMKs to grow into resilient, independent, creative, adaptive, and competitive enterprises.

The implementation of the Pertamina UMK Academy also supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Goal 8 regarding Decent Work and Economic Growth, and Goal 9 regarding Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure. This programme is also aligned with the ‘Asta Cita’ vision through the strengthening of entrepreneurship and the development of resilient, competitive local businesses capable of providing economic benefits to the surrounding community.
