Pertamina Trans Kontinental Strengthens Maritime Support for Biodiesel Distribution in Indonesia
PT Pertamina Trans Kontimental (PTK) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the smooth distribution of biodiesel throughout Indonesia via safe, reliable, and integrated maritime services.
This commitment was stated during the 6th Palm Biodiesel Conference 2026 held in Nusa Dua, Bali, on 17-18 September 2026. This annual forum for national biodiesel industry stakeholders serves as a platform for discussion and sharing experiences regarding the future sustainability of biodiesel.
PTK Marketing Director Albertus Anto Budi Santosa explained that integrated maritime operations are key to maintaining inter-island energy supplies while supporting the growth of the national biodiesel ecosystem.
“As an archipelagic nation, energy distribution in Indonesia relies heavily on maritime connectivity. PTK plays a role on the maritime side as a link between vessels and terminals, ensuring that energy movement can occur safely, punctually, and reliably. This role is also part of our support for the development of the national biodiesel ecosystem,” Albertus stated during his presentation at the event.
As part of Pertamina’s Integrated Marine Logistics Subholding, PTK connects vessels and ports (energy terminal ports) in an integrated manner. To this end, PTK’s operations focus on safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance, as well as safe berthing and unberthing of vessels, environmental protection, and the availability of competent, certified personnel.
“PTK prioritises safety and performance reliability. Our goal is to ensure that PTK’s customers operate safely, on time, and efficiently, especially in this biodiesel distribution,” Albertus explained.
PTK’s role in the biodiesel ecosystem has grown alongside the development of the national biodiesel programme. Since the initial phase of the B2.5 national mandate in 2008, PTK has supported maritime connectivity within Pertamina’s energy distribution network through vessel support, marine services, and ship and terminal operations.
This role expanded in 2019, when the demand for FAME (Fatty Acid Methyl Ester) distribution increased alongside the expansion of B20 implementation and preparations for B30. During that period, PTK received additional mandates to manage FAME Floating Storage and Ship-to-Ship operations in Balikpapan, to provide additional storage capacity and increase distribution flexibility to Eastern Indonesia.
As the proportion of plant-based components in the national biodiesel programme increases in the coming years, PTK has expressed its readiness to collaborate with various parties to support broader and more flexible maritime logistics needs.
“PTK is committed to maintaining the safety and reliability of biodiesel maritime logistics to support the continuity of energy supply throughout Indonesia through closer collaboration with strategic partners, working alongside members of the Indonesian Biodiesel Producers Association (APROBI),” Albertus added.
