Pertamina to Cover Costs for Victims and Residents Affected by Cimuning SPBE Fire in Bekasi

BEKASI, KOMPAS.com – PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Jawa Bagian Barat has assured that it will take full responsibility for the victims and residents affected by the fire at the Bulk LPG Filling Station (SPBE) in Cimuning, Mustika Jaya, Bekasi City.

“Certainly, we have coordinated with the SPBE party that for post-incident handling, especially for the affected victims and surrounding residents, it will be our full responsibility,” said Area Manager for Communication, Relations & CSR at Pertamina Regional JBB, Susanto August Satria, to the media at the location on Thursday (2/4/2026).

Susanto emphasised that all medical needs of the victims will be covered by Pertamina as a form of the company’s responsibility.

In addition, Pertamina is also open to providing compensation for residents’ homes damaged by the fire. Damage assessments will be conducted jointly with local government, from RT and RW levels up to the sub-district.

To date, Pertamina has not been able to disclose the exact chronology of the incident as it is still awaiting the results of the investigation from the authorities.

“For the chronology, we cannot confirm yet, as we still need to gather statements from witnesses and related parties at the location,” said Susanto.

He also conveyed an apology for the incident that occurred at the SPBE, which is a Pertamina partner.

According to Susanto, the main focus at present is handling the impact of the incident and ensuring that conditions around the location remain safe.

“We thank the fire department and authorities who have secured the situation. Cooling operations were carried out around 00.00 WIB,” he said.

Amid the incident, Pertamina assures that LPG supplies for the public are unaffected.

“LPG supplies remain safe and uninterrupted for the served areas,” said Susanto.

He explained that the Cimuning SPBE is a Pertamina partner managed by a private entity and has been operational since 2009, when the surrounding environment was not as dense as it is now.

“This is a Pertamina partner managed by a private company and it has the necessary permits,” he said.
