Pertamina Threatens to Terminate Cooperation with Rogue Subsidised Fuel and LPG Distributors
Indonesian National Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency has exposed cases of misuse of subsidised fuel (BBM) and LPG in various regions across Indonesia. PT Pertamina Patra Niaga has affirmed that it will impose firm sanctions on distribution entities proven to engage in illegal practices.
Director of Retail Marketing at Pertamina Patra Niaga, Eko Ricky Susanto, stated that this measure is part of the company’s commitment to ensuring the targeted distribution of subsidised energy.
“Pertamina Patra Niaga remains committed to synergising and collaborating with the Indonesian National Police and the TNI’s Central Military Police in enforcing the law against the misuse and improper distribution of BBM and LPG,” Eko said during a press conference at the Bhayangkara Field of the National Police Headquarters in South Jakarta on Tuesday (7/4/2026).
He emphasised that Pertamina is fully committed to maintaining the supply and distribution of subsidised 3-kilogram LPG and BBM in accordance with regulations, fairly and targeted at those entitled to receive it.
He added that Pertamina Patra Niaga is continuously strengthening internal oversight of its distribution partners to prevent illegal practices that harm the state and the public.
“Pertamina Patra Niaga has undertaken various efforts to monitor and supervise our partners and existing distribution entities, and if violations are proven to be criminal, they will be handled in accordance with applicable legal provisions,” Eko explained.
“Pertamina Patra Niaga will impose strict sanctions, ranging from guidance to termination of business relations in line with prevailing regulations,” he asserted.
On that occasion, Eko expressed appreciation to the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency for its swift action in uncovering suspected misuse of subsidised BBM and LPG distribution in various parts of Indonesia.
“Because such actions (misuse) harm the state. They also disrupt the distribution of subsidised BBM and LPG, particularly in terms of stock availability needed by entitled communities,” he clarified.
Pertamina, he continued, will continue to collaborate with law enforcement authorities, including the TNI’s Central Military Police, to support crackdowns on parties involved in such illegal practices.
On the other hand, Eko called on the public to actively report indications of misuse through law enforcement channels or the company’s official line, the Pertamina Call Centre at 135.
Additionally, the public is urged to use subsidised BBM and LPG wisely and according to their needs, to maintain supply availability amid dynamic global geopolitical conditions.
“Pertamina Patra Niaga urges the public to use subsidised BBM and LPG prudently. Especially given the current geopolitical situation, purchase according to needs and in reasonable quantities,” he advised.
Previously, the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency had dismantled 755 crime scenes involving the misuse of subsidised BBM and LPG throughout 2025 up to April 2026. A total of 672 suspects were arrested in these revelations.
The illegal practices potentially caused state losses of up to Rp 1.26 trillion, with misuse of subsidised BBM amounting to approximately Rp 516.8 billion and losses from subsidised LPG misuse reaching approximately Rp 749.2 billion.
