Pertamina Supports Fuel Distribution for NTT Earthquake Emergency Response

PT Pertamina (Persero) has confirmed its support for fuel oil (BBM) supplies to handle the emergency response to the 7.7-magnitude earthquake in Flores, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

Pertamina President Director Simon Aloysius Mantiri said the company is deploying resources and technical teams to ensure the energy needs of the public and disaster response operations continue to be met. Simon made the remarks during the M7.7 Flores Earthquake Emergency Response Coordination Meeting in Labuan Bajo on Sunday (16/8).

Simon said Pertamina’s support is being directed to a number of affected areas, including regions experiencing disruptions to energy access and distribution.

“We will continue to provide regular updates, as directed by the Head of BPH earlier this afternoon, so that the public can receive clear information,” said Simon.

One of Pertamina’s support measures is aimed at accelerating the restoration of transport access in affected areas. On the Ende-Bajawa section of the Trans-Flores road, he said, heavy equipment has been deployed to help clear landslide material. Pertamina has prepared diesel support for the heavy equipment so that the road connectivity restoration process can proceed.

“Specifically for the Ende-Bajawa section of the Trans-Flores road, heavy equipment is already on site and we have coordinated diesel support to help the heavy equipment repair road connectivity there,” said Simon.

He noted that Pertamina has recorded a number of roads affected by landslides, including Jalan Rerurua, which is blocked by rock material.

Energy supply support has also been prepared for the Nagekeo region following reports of fuel shortages. Pertamina said it will immediately follow up on the reports. Teams from MOR Jatimbalinus (East Java, Bali, and Nusa Tenggara) have also been mobilised to strengthen handling in affected areas.

Pertamina has confirmed aviation fuel (Avtur) support for airports that can be used as mobilisation points for aid and emergency response posts. Two areas of focus are Labuan Bajo and Maumere.

“We will continue to provide priority Avtur services, especially for areas or airports that can serve as posts, including Labuan Bajo and Maumere,” he said.

The industrial fuel support being prepared, Simon continued, includes supplies for PLN, utilising supply from Reo and other sources.
