Pertamina Sulawesi increases fuel supply to meet public demand

Makassar, South Sulawesi - PT Pertamina Patata Niaga Regional Sulawesi is increasing the supply of fuel and 3kg LPG to meet the energy needs of the community.

Deny Sukendar, Executive General Manager of Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sulawesi, stated in Makassar on Thursday that the company has recorded a 10-15 per cent increase in diesel demand from June to August 2026. This surge is attributed to increased logistics activity, widening price disparities, and indications of unauthorised fuel distribution activities.

The price increase for non-subsidised fuel on 1 September 2026 has further widened the disparity, impacting the demand for diesel at several petrol stations.

In the last two to three days, heavy queues have also been observed during the distribution of Pertalite fuel.

To address these conditions, Pertamina has increased fuel allocations by approximately 10-15 per cent from the average daily distribution in high-demand areas and has strengthened the distribution of 3kg LPG by up to 130 per cent.

Pertamina is also implementing marshalling at petrol stations experiencing heavy queues, directing vehicles to other stations with lighter traffic.

As an additional service measure, the operating hours of 16 petrol stations in Makassar will be extended to 24 hours.

With 11 petrol stations previously operating 24 hours a day, there will now be a total of 25 stations providing round-the-clock service in Makassar.

Deny stated that all these measures are being taken to ensure smooth distribution while responding to changes in public energy consumption patterns.

“We continue to adjust distribution based on actual conditions on the ground. This includes increasing allocations, managing queues through marshalling, strengthening LPG supplies, and expanding petrol station operating hours,” he said during an audience with the Governor of South Sulawesi, Andi Sudirman Sulaiman.

“We are ensuring that fuel and LPG stocks remain maintained to meet the needs of the community,” Deny added.
