Pertamina Subholding Upstream Regional Java Wins Four Green PROPER Awards
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Subsidiaries of Pertamina Subholding Upstream Regional Java have successfully received awards in the Green category at the 2025 Programme for Assessing Company Performance in Environmental Management (PROPER) event organised by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry.
“This award serves as proof that our environmental management is not only focused on compliance but also provides real benefits to society. Moving forward, we will continue to promote adaptive, collaborative, and sustainable innovations,” said Manager of Communication, Relations & CID at Pertamina EP Regional Java, Pinto Budi Bowo Laksono, in a statement received in Jakarta on Friday.
The subsidiaries of Pertamina Subholding Upstream Regional Java include PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore North West Java (PHE ONWJ), Pertamina EP Subang Field, Pertamina EP Tambun Field, and Pertamina EP.
PROPER is one of the government’s policy instruments that encourages companies to improve their environmental management performance in a transparent, accountable manner, while involving the community.
Through PROPER, he continued, companies are not only required to meet standards but also to introduce innovations that add value to the environment and society.
This success is supported by various social and environmental innovation programmes implemented in operational areas, which focus not only on ecological aspects but also on sustainably empowering communities.
At Pertamina EP Tambun Field, the Cemerlang Lestari programme in Karawang Kulon, Karawang Regency, serves as a community-based effort to protect women and children, integrated with environmental and economic aspects.
The programme develops various innovations, from family strengthening services and gender education to environmentally friendly products based on natural fibres.
Meanwhile, through the Purnama Subang programme, Pertamina EP Subang Field focuses on empowering former migrant workers and vulnerable groups through economic strengthening based on local potential. The programme integrates environmentally friendly technology, such as the use of solar energy in agriculture, as well as community-based waste management in Compreng Village, Subang.
Pertamina EP Jatibarang Field, with the Jari Tangan (Independent Farming and Food Security) programme, promotes environmentally friendly farming practices through the use of organic fertilisers, development of biological agents, and integration of renewable energy to increase productivity and community food resilience.
The programme is implemented in Karanganyar Village, Kedokanbunder Wetan Village, and Margadadi Ward, Indramayu Regency.
PHE ONWJ develops the Jam Pasir (Protecting Nature Through Coastal Community Empowerment) social innovation programme, which integrates environmental conservation with economic empowerment for coastal communities in Pasir Putih, Karawang Regency.
The programme focuses on controlling abrasion through mangrove planting and sedimentation management technology, while also optimising waste management into new economic value sources for the community.
This success in achieving Green PROPER demonstrates the application of Good Corporate Governance principles in conducting safe, reliable, and environmentally friendly operations.
Through this achievement, Pertamina EP Regional Java is committed to further strengthening environmental management and promoting sustainable community empowerment innovations, as part of real contributions to supporting sustainable development and national energy resilience.
