JAKARTA - PT Pertamina Patra Niaga is continuing to strengthen its sea-based energy distribution system to ensure that supplies of fuel (BBM) and LPG remain stable across various remote areas of Indonesia.

Corporate Secretary of Pertamina Patra Niaga, Roberth M.V. Dumatubun, stated that as an archipelagic nation with more than 17,000 islands, maritime connectivity serves as the primary foundation for national energy distribution.

Therefore, through its shipping business, Pertamina plays a strategic role as a virtual pipeline that delivers energy to every corner of the country, both by sea and river.

“More than just a mode of transport, shipping represents invisible infrastructure that supports national energy distribution,” he said in a written statement on Monday (4/5/2026).

The distribution of BBM and LPG from refineries to terminals and delivery points relies on the reliability of this system, especially for underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost regions, or 3T areas.

“Given Indonesia’s characteristics as an archipelagic nation, the reliability of this system is key to ensuring equitable access to energy, including in 3T regions,” Roberth added.

He further noted that energy distribution via shipping routes also faces various challenges, from weather conditions to operational dynamics in the field. Therefore, an adaptive and reliable shipping system is needed to keep energy supplies flowing smoothly.

“When the shipping system operates optimally, society does not feel its impact. But when disruptions occur, the effects are immediately felt in energy availability and economic activities,” he explained.

These efforts are aimed at ensuring that energy distribution runs safely, on time, and equitably across all regions of Indonesia.

“Going forward, Pertamina Patra Niaga is committed to continuously developing a more adaptive and resilient energy distribution system, in line with global dynamics and societal energy needs,” he concluded.
