Pertamina Strengthens Governance Through Data Integration with Tax Directorate

PT Pertamina (Persero) Finance Director Mega Satria has committed to strengthening corporate governance through the integration of transaction data with the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) at the Ministry of Finance. “Pertamina is committed to strengthening the governance of the Pertamina Group, and one way is by continuously demonstrating transparency and close cooperation with the DJP,” Satria said during the kick-off event for the Cooperative Compliance Trial Programme with the Implementation of the Tax Control Framework and Tax Data Integration, held at the DJP office in Jakarta on Monday. Satria noted that Pertamina has contributed to the state through taxation, non-tax state revenue (PNBP), and dividends paid to the government. “Hopefully, this can be extended to other state-owned enterprises as evidence of improved governance within BUMN,” Satria added. Director General of Taxes Bimo Wijayanto stated that integrating transaction data with state-owned enterprises represents an evolution of the modern taxation system based on trust. He expressed hope that the implementation of transaction data integration with Pertamina would serve as a springboard for other state-owned enterprises and private companies. Bimo emphasised that the core purpose of integrating transaction data between companies and the Directorate General of Taxes is not to increase revenue, but to prevent ‘surprise’ taxes that were previously unknown due to investments, business developments, or other transactions that may have been overlooked in reporting to the DJP. “The main point is that there will be no more sudden surprises if there are transactions resulting from investments or business developments that the Directorate General of Taxes was unaware of and that may have been forgotten to be reported,” Bimo said.
