Banda Aceh (ANTARA) - Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sumatera Bagian Utara (Sumbagut) is strengthening disaster preparedness to enhance operational safety at public petrol stations (SPBU) in Aceh. “One of the activities we are carrying out to strengthen the safety aspect is through emergency response training and simulation conducted at SPBU CODO 13.233.404 in Aceh Besar Regency,” said Fahrougi Andriani Sumampouw, Area Manager of Communication, Relations & CSR for Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sumbagut, in Banda Aceh on Friday. He explained that the activity is part of Pertamina’s commitment to continuously improve the safety culture across all operational lines. “Safety is the top priority in every Pertamina operational activity,” he said. The activity was a collaboration between the Aceh Retail Sales Area, Krueng Raya Fuel Terminal, PT Elnusa Petrofin, and HSSE Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sumbagut. The event, attended by 75 participants, began with First Aider training held in the multipurpose room of the Aceh Retail Sales Area, followed by a tabletop exercise and a field simulation carried out directly at SPBU CODO 13.233.404. In the simulation, participants practised handling an emergency scenario involving a fuel spill during the unloading process, which subsequently triggered a fire on a PT Elnusa Petrofin tanker truck within the station area. He stated that the simulation was designed to test the effectiveness of emergency response procedures, inter-functional coordination, and the readiness of personnel in facing potential incidents in the field. “We want to ensure that all personnel, working partners, and relevant stakeholders have the readiness and ability to respond quickly and accurately to emergency conditions, so that risks to people, the environment, and company assets can be minimised,” Fahrougi said. Meanwhile, Regional Manager of HSSE for Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sumbagut, Agoeng Priyanto, conveyed that emergency response simulations are a crucial part of ensuring all personnel and partners share the same level of preparedness in facing potential operational risks. “Safety is not solely the responsibility of the HSSE function, but is the responsibility of all workers and partners in every operational activity,” he said. He expressed hope that all personnel would become better prepared to face emergency conditions, thereby minimising risks to people, the environment, assets, and operational continuity.
