Pertamina Strengthens Emergency Preparedness Through PKD Simulation at Petrol Station
PT Pertamina (Persero), through PT Pertamina Retail at the COCO 51.651.16 Langsep Malang petrol station, conducted an Emergency Response Simulation (PKD) as part of efforts to strengthen Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) aspects in petrol station operations.
This activity involved all petrol station staff and collaboration with Klojen Police Station, Klojen Military Command (Koramil 0833/01), and Malang City Fire Department.
During the simulation, a fire scenario was staged in one area of the petrol station, causing a shift supervisor to sustain burns and the fire spreading to the dispenser area. The scenario tested staff on emergency response procedures, including internal coordination, inter-team communication, victim handling, and information dissemination to relevant parties.
Ruli Handoko, HSSE Manager at Pertamina Retail, stated that emergency response simulations are a routine company activity to ensure personnel readiness and the reliability of emergency response systems in operational areas.
“Petrol station operations face various hazards such as fires, fuel spills, explosions, and worker injuries during field activities. Through these simulations, we aim to ensure personnel readiness, procedure effectiveness, and team coordination in emergency situations to minimise risks and potential losses should a real incident occur,” Ruli said in a press release on Tuesday.
The simulation began by establishing the incident flow and assigning tasks to personnel according to the Emergency Response Organisation Structure. The scenario was then executed to test the team’s response through coordination, communication, situation handling, and information dissemination to internal and external parties. Following the simulation, a joint evaluation was conducted to identify improvements and enhance preparedness.
Aditya Hendrawan, Manager of Region VI (Jatimbalinus) at Pertamina Retail, said PKD simulations are conducted regularly to ensure all staff can respond promptly and accurately to emergencies.
“Through these drills, we aim for petrol station workers to refresh their knowledge and understanding of emergency response procedures, while also enhancing teamwork coordination, communication, and cohesion to ensure faster, more precise, and effective handling of operational emergencies,” he said.
Meanwhile, Corporate Secretary of Pertamina Retail, Ardhi Widodo, stated that the activity is part of the company’s commitment to building a sustainable workplace safety culture.
“Pertamina Retail remains committed to ensuring optimal HSSE implementation across all operational lines. Routine PKD simulations are also a crucial step in enhancing staff competencies and reinforcing safety awareness within the workplace,” he said.
