Pertamina states it is capable of processing crude oil from Russia
Pertamina will certainly support and participate in providing domestic energy and its distribution, from processing to becoming products.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Corporate Secretary of Pertamina Patra Niaga, Roberth MV Dumatubun, stated that Pertamina’s refineries are capable of processing crude oil originating from Russia.
“For crude from Russia, Pertamina’s Refinery Units/refineries are capable and able to process it to become processed products from that crude,” said Roberth to ANTARA when contacted from Jakarta on Tuesday.
This statement relates to the government’s plan to purchase crude oil from Russia.
Roberth conveyed that Pertamina will certainly follow the government’s directives and policies regarding crude oil trade, including imports from Russia.
The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, conducted negotiations for the purchase of crude oil and LPG from Russia during his meeting with Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilev in Russia on Tuesday.
Based on its official statement confirmed by ANTARA from Jakarta on Tuesday, the cooperation between Indonesia and Russia encompasses the development of oil refineries, strengthening oil trade, and increasing the utilisation of energy technology.
“Alhamdulillah, what has become the agreement, we have obtained quite good results where we can obtain additional reserves of crude (crude oil) for us. In addition, we will also be able to obtain LPG,” said Bahlil.
To maintain national energy supply resilience, the government continues to seek strategic measures, one of which is through exploring cooperation with Russia as one of the world’s energy-producing countries.
