Pertamina Sends Over 900 Returnees Back to Jakarta
For the first time, Pertamina has introduced a free return transport service to Jakarta for mudik participants, as part of the Mudik Bareng Pertamina 2026 programme, with the main theme of Energy for Hopeful Steps. More than 900 participants were sent back to Jakarta from four assembly points: Yogyakarta, Semarang, Surabaya, and Cirebon, on 28 March 2026. Independent Commissioner of Pertamina, Cokro Kirono, stated that the return service to Jakarta represents Pertamina’s commitment to accompanying mudik travellers from start to finish. Not only for the journey back to hometowns, but also when departing for the city. This programme also supports the potential reduction of traffic accidents, and serves as Pertamina’s ongoing effort to reduce emissions through mass transportation, in line with the government’s efforts to reduce the use of fuel oil (BBM). “We prepared 337 buses for both the outbound and return mudik flows, with the return flow also departing simultaneously from various points destined for Jakarta. The enthusiasm of the mudik participants is extraordinary; last year we only prepared for the outbound journey, but this year we also included the return. We also ensured that BBM stocks are safe, which we checked at the same time,” explained Cokro to CNBC Indonesia on Thursday (2/4/2026). Enthusiasm and appreciation also came from Semarang, where 335 mudik participants crowded Simpang Lima. They said that this activity greatly eases the cost of mudik. Moreover, they were pleased with the facilities provided. A mudik participant from Semarang hopes that this can continue to be done. Retno, one of the mudik participants who joined this programme, appreciated the details and support given. “Very comfortable, especially with coordinators that make it even more comfortable, and complete facilities. If next year there’s again, I could join again,” Retno concluded.
