PT Pertamina Patra Niaga is securing avtur supplies to support flight operations at Komodo Airport in Labuan Bajo. The measure comes amid recovery efforts following the M 7.7 earthquake that struck East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) on 15 August 2026.

The earthquake also affected the avtur distribution route to the Komodo Labuan Bajo Aviation Fuel Terminal, both from the main Fuel Terminal Reo route and the alternative route from Fuel Terminal Ende.

To maintain supply continuity, Pertamina Patra Niaga immediately implemented an emergency supply pattern from the Bima Integrated Terminal. Deliveries from Bima to Labuan Bajo use avtur tanker trucks/bridgers via sea routes, which takes longer than under normal conditions.

VP Corporate Communication of Pertamina Patra Niaga Kitty Andhora said the effort is intended to ensure aviation energy needs remain served while distribution routes have not fully recovered. Various alternative supply schemes have been prepared to maintain air connectivity.

“In a post-disaster situation, air connectivity greatly supports the movement of aid, humanitarian personnel, search and rescue, disaster management, and commercial flights. For this reason, we immediately prepared an alternative supply pattern so that avtur services in Labuan Bajo continue to operate while the main supply route is under recovery,” Kitty explained, as quoted from an official statement on Wednesday (19/8/2026).

In addition, Pertamina Patra Niaga is strengthening synergy with the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) and the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) to anticipate avtur needs for flights to Labuan Bajo. Supply is being optimised through increased avtur refuelling volumes at departure airports and the use of alternative airports in Lombok, Kupang, and Denpasar according to operational needs.

“We continue to strengthen synergy with various parties during this recovery period. We carefully manage avtur requirements in line with flight operational conditions, including optimising refuelling from departure airports and alternative airports,” she added.

Pertamina Patra Niaga continues to monitor avtur supply and stock levels in Labuan Bajo and surrounding airports. These arrangements will be adjusted throughout the recovery period so that flight needs remain served until the distribution route to Komodo Labuan Bajo Airport returns to normal.
