Pertamina Secures 14 PROPER Gold Awards and 108 Green Awards from KLHK
PT Pertamina (Persero) has once again demonstrated top environmental performance by securing 14 PROPER Gold awards and 108 PROPER Green awards from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry at the 2026 PROPER Awards ceremony held at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah on Tuesday (7 April 2026).
Pertamina claimed the highest number of PROPER Gold awards, accounting for about 35% of the total 39 national Gold awards. The company also dominated the PROPER Green category, with 44% of the total 243 national Green awards.
The President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero) also received the highest accolade, Green Leadership, in recognition of leadership in environmental management and business sustainability.
Minister of Environment/Head of BPLH Hanif Faisol Nurofiq stated that PROPER has evolved far beyond its original function as a compliance instrument.
“PROPER is a transformation engine that drives companies not only to comply but to exceed compliance through innovation, resource efficiency, and tangible contributions to society,” Hanif said in a written statement on Wednesday (8 April 2026).
Meanwhile, Pertamina’s President Director Simon Aloysius Mantiri expressed gratitude for the awards received by the Pertamina Group. Pertamina is implementing a ‘Beyond Energy’ strategy to lead the green energy transition and circular economy for energy security aligned with natural preservation.
“Our strategic steps today lay the foundation for a brighter Indonesia. Through a spirit of togetherness, Pertamina acts as a catalyst in realising the vision of Golden Indonesia 2045 that is advanced, independent, and sustainable,” Simon stated.
Simon emphasised that in line with the Minister of Environment’s mandate in Decree 129 of 2025, Pertamina has recorded a threefold increase in decarbonisation. While successfully improving energy efficiency, the company has simultaneously doubled the use of new renewable energy.
“This achievement affirms that Pertamina is at the forefront of national energy. Pertamina leads strategic initiatives by integrating cross-sector potential to accelerate the national energy transition,” Simon revealed.
Meanwhile, Pertamina’s Vice President of Corporate Communication, Muhammad Baron, stated that this achievement is concrete evidence of the company’s efforts in conducting environmentally conscious business operations.
“This achievement demonstrates Pertamina’s commitment as a world-class energy company that is environmentally friendly, with a high commitment to running business operations that are not only business-oriented but also provide benefits to the environment and society,” Baron said.
Social innovations across all operational lines are an important part of implementing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, while supporting the energy transition being carried out by the company.
In the social field, Baron continued, Pertamina has supported poverty alleviation and economic inequality reduction efforts, manifested through increasing the turnover value of creative economy to Rp 500 billion per year, reaching more than 140,000 beneficiaries.
“In environmental conservation, Pertamina has conserved 248 fauna species and 300 flora species, with the planting of 9 million trees and waste management in 151 programme locations,” he added.
Through the Desa Energi Berdikari (DEB) initiative, Pertamina has successfully integrated renewable energy innovations with a circular economy that directly impacts community life. Currently, Pertamina has built 252 Desa Energi Berdikari villages across Indonesia.
“The main strength of this programme lies in community involvement in utilising energy sources based on local potential, such as solar power plants, methane and biogas installations, and other energy sources to develop community businesses and strengthen local economic resilience towards a greener and more independent energy future,” he explained.
Overall, the 2026 PROPER achievements affirm Pertamina’s commitment to supporting the national energy transition through environmental innovation, energy efficiency, and sustainable social programmes.
“Energy transition is a moral responsibility borne by Pertamina with full conviction. Through the Beyond Energy philosophy, Pertamina proves that business progress and natural preservation can go hand in hand,” he concluded.
