Pertamina says MT Balongan is key to strengthening energy distribution
Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Pertamina Patra Niaga has stated that the MT Balongan vessel is key to strengthening national energy distribution for the regions of Ampenan, West Nusa Tenggara; Bima, West Nusa Tenggara; Camplong, East Java; and Benoa, Bali. “MT Balongan plays an important role in maintaining the smooth distribution of national energy, particularly for island regions and areas with non-simple logistical challenges,” said Director of Logistics Fleet at PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, Arif Yunianto, in a statement received in Jakarta on Tuesday. With a carrying capacity of up to 6,736 DWT and a distribution volume of up to 26,000 KL per month, this fleet supplies energy to the Ampenan, Bima, Camplong, and Benoa regions through loading processes from the Manggis Transit Terminal and Tanjung Wangi. This role positions MT Balongan as one of the strategic fleets in ensuring energy availability for communities and the industrial sector in various regions. The presence of this fleet is an important part of supporting energy connectivity in an archipelagic country like Indonesia. “The operational consistency of this fleet supports the availability of reliable and timely energy supplies for communities and the industrial sector in various regions of Indonesia,” Arif said. The operation of MT Balongan also drives logistical efficiency and accelerates energy distribution. This is crucial amid distribution challenges influenced by dynamic sea weather conditions and infrastructure limitations in several regions.
