Vice President of Corporate Communication at PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, Kitty Andhora, stated that 29 of Pertamina’s 126 fuel terminals are ready to distribute Biodiesel 50 (B50) in the form of Biosolar. “Today, 29 of Pertamina’s 126 terminals are ready to distribute B50 in accordance with the government’s stipulations,” Kitty said when contacted in Jakarta on Wednesday. Kitty noted that the number of terminals would continue to increase gradually during the transition period. Based on Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Decree Number 257.K/EK.01/MEM.E/2026 concerning the Mandatory Blending of 50 Percent Biodiesel-Type Biofuel with Diesel Fuel Oil, a transition period is provided for fuel business entities that still have a supply of 40 percent biofuel blend, or B40. Business entities that still hold B40 stocks are given the opportunity to distribute the fuel until 30 September 2026, in accordance with established standards and specifications. “We are continuing to monitor to ensure the distribution of B50 runs smoothly, reaches distributors, and can be consumed by the public,” Kitty said. President Prabowo Subianto announced that B50 biodiesel fuel will be launched in July 2026. Once B50 is in effect, the President is confident there will be significant savings. “I estimate that in three years, a maximum of four years, we will achieve energy self-sufficiency. We do not want to import anything for our fuel, for our energy,” President Prabowo stated. According to the President, energy independence and security are absolutely necessary for the Indonesian people, considering the impact society could experience when turmoil occurs in oil-producing countries or along oil distribution routes, such as what is currently happening in the Strait of Hormuz. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has stated that all sectors are ready to implement the mandatory B50 policy ahead of its inauguration by President Prabowo Subianto, scheduled for July 2026. Ministry spokesperson Dwi Anggia explained that readiness to implement B50 will be carried out simultaneously across all sectors. B50 has been tested on various vehicles, including heavy equipment, ships, trains, and a number of other vehicles such as mining equipment, excavators, and agricultural machinery. Furthermore, she confirmed that B50 will be applied simultaneously throughout Indonesia after being inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto. “It is ready across all of Indonesia, the preparations are thorough,” Anggia said.
