Pertamina Sanctions Timika Petrol Station for Misusing Subsidised Fuel

PT Pertamina Patra Niaga has temporarily sanctioned a public fuel station (SPBU) on Jalan Cenderawasih SP2, Timika, Central Papua, prohibiting it from selling subsidised Pertalite fuel for 14 days starting 9 July 2026. Sales Branch Manager Junaedi Kalla stated the sanction was a form of guidance for the station following the discovery of violations. The action was coordinated with the Mimika Industry and Trade Office (Disperindag). The violations involved an operator filling a vehicle whose registration plate did not match the barcode, and another operator using a pump designated for motorcycles to fill a four-wheeled vehicle, thereby bypassing the barcode system required for subsidised fuel purchases. Junaedi noted these irregular transactions indicated misuse. As a result, the station will not receive Pertalite supplies and cannot sell the product during the 14-day period. The policy aims to ensure subsidised fuel distribution is precisely targeted, preventing the public from being deprived of fair access due to misuse at the station. Prior to this, Pertamina had issued warnings and a formal sanction letter earlier in 2026, after which the station had committed to improving its sales governance. The station management has since dismissed the operators involved, and the vehicles found in violation have had their registration plates blocked. Head of Domestic and Foreign Trade Lamberth Nunaki commended Pertamina’s firm action, stating it delivers a sense of justice to the community and prevents certain individuals from profiting improperly at the expense of others.
