Pertamina Sacks Fuel Tanker Crew for Smoking on Duty

PT Pertamina Patra Niaga has immediately dismissed an awak mobil tangki (AMT) fuel tanker crew member for violating safety procedures by smoking whilst on duty. The company acted swiftly after a social media post showed the driver smoking while operating a fuel tanker. An investigation revealed the driver was a crew member from a transport partner company, servicing a bulk LPG filling and transport station (SPPBE). The partner company has taken firm action by terminating the driver’s employment. The company stated this step is part of disciplinary enforcement and guidance on compliance with health, safety, security and environment (HSSE) aspects, which are absolute in all operational activities. ‘Safety is a non-negotiable principle,’ a company spokesperson said. ‘This firm action is part of disciplinary enforcement and coaching, so that every worker and partner understands that compliance with HSSE procedures must be carried out consistently in every operational activity.’ Pertamina Patra Niaga also expressed appreciation for the public’s concern in reporting the information. ‘Every report is important input to continue strengthening the safety culture throughout the energy distribution chain,’ the spokesperson added.
