Pertamina Reveals 50 Percent Gap in Pertamax Price Hike
Pertamina, through the Corporate Secretary of Pertamina Patra Niaga, Roberth MV Dumatubun, explained that the price adjustment for Pertamax, which took effect on 10 June 2026, was conducted by referring to the market price mechanism in accordance with the formula established by the government.
He emphasised that this is in line with government information, which states that the Pertamax series is a non-subsidised fuel product whose selling price follows the dynamics of market price movements.
“Non-subsidised fuels, such as the Pertamax series, are products whose selling prices are adjusted according to developments in market conditions and economic factors that affect energy procurement costs,” said Roberth in a statement on Thursday, 18 June 2026.
He further explained the considerations used by the government in adjusting non-subsidised fuel prices, specifically regarding the fluctuations in international crude oil prices.
Roberth ensured that the adjustment steps taken by the government continue to take into account the economic conditions of the domestic population.
He added that the Pertamax price adjustment was implemented with a 50 per cent difference from the market price.
Consequently, when compared to similar fuel prices in neighbouring ASEAN countries, the price of Pertamax remains more competitive in order to maintain public purchasing power and the national economy.
Nevertheless, Roberth emphasised that the government, together with Pertamina, will continue to conduct periodic monthly evaluations of non-subsidised fuel prices.
“Non-subsidised fuel prices are evaluated regularly every month, in accordance with the development of economic parameters,” said Roberth.
“However, in terms of implementation, we continue to adhere to the policies established by the government,” he added.
