JAKARTA - PT Pertamina Patra Niaga is also relying on its sea logistics fleet to distribute liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to various regions in Indonesia. This Pertamina Commercial & Trading subholding channels around 223,000 metric tons (MT) of LPG per month, utilising both company-owned ships and chartered vessels. For its own fleet, Pertamina Patra Niaga has nine captive LPG ships that play a role in the domestic distribution system. In addition, more than 30 chartered ships are used to ensure distribution flexibility. Pertamina Patra Niaga’s President Director, Mars Ega Legowo, stated that the readiness of the logistics fleet is one of the key factors in supporting the smooth distribution of LPG across various regions. “As part of the national energy distribution system, we continue to optimise the readiness of the logistics fleet to support the delivery of LPG to the public. LPG distribution is an interconnected system, so it needs to be managed in a balanced manner between supply and demand,” he said in a written statement on Friday (10/4/2026). Meanwhile, the LPG distribution reaching 223,000 MT per month is spread across several regions. The details include around 77,000 MT to North Sumatra, 24,000 MT to South Sumatra, 45,000 MT to West Java, 35,000 MT to East Java, Bali, and Nusa Tenggara, 34,000 MT to Sulawesi, 5,000 MT to Kalimantan, and the remainder to Maluku and Papua. In recent times, Pertamina Patra Niaga has also recorded an increase in LPG purchasing activity in several regions such as Riau, North Sumatra, South Sulawesi, and East Java. In line with this situation, Mars Ega assured that the company continues to monitor and adjust operations to ensure distribution runs smoothly and public needs are met. “Through coordinated distribution management and adaptive logistics fleet support, Pertamina Patra Niaga continues to strive to maintain the smooth delivery of LPG across various regions in Indonesia,” he said.
