Pertamina Relaunches UMK Academy to Help Local Enterprises Level Up
PT Pertamina (Persero) has relaunched the Pertamina UMK Academy 2026, a coaching programme for micro and small enterprises (UMK) designed to improve competence, strengthen businesses, and expand market access. Registration for the Pertamina UMK Academy 2026 opened online from 21 to 31 August 2026 via umkacademy.id/onboarding.
Since it was first held in 2020, Pertamina UMK Academy has been designed as a structured coaching programme that supports UMK players according to the stages of their business development. Participants receive training on business management, product development, technology utilisation, and market expansion, with assistance from accelerators, mentors, and professional coaches.
Vice President Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina (Persero), Muhammad Baron, said Pertamina UMK Academy is part of Pertamina’s commitment to fostering resilient, adaptive, and competitive local enterprises. “Through Pertamina UMK Academy, Pertamina not only provides knowledge but also assists UMK players in applying the learning directly to their business development. Participants are encouraged to strengthen governance, improve product quality, utilise technology, collaborate, and expand market access,” Baron said.
Pertamina UMK Academy is implemented through two coaching stages: regional and national. The regional stage focuses on strengthening business fundamentals according to each participant’s sector. Participants who pass to the national stage then receive coaching based on their level of business readiness.
The national coaching is divided into four classes: Go Modern for strengthening business management, Go Digital for utilising digitalisation in business processes, Go Online for optimising online channels and expanding markets, and Go Global for preparing UMKs to enter business-to-business (B2B) markets, both domestic and export.
In 2026, Pertamina is also integrating two special modules: Go Green and Go Aggregator. Go Green encourages the adoption of more environmentally friendly business practices, while Go Aggregator equips participants to build collaborations and open broader market opportunities with other UMK players.
“Every UMK player has different needs and levels of readiness. Therefore, the materials and mentoring are tailored to each business’s position and development so that the coaching process delivers more tangible and measurable results,” Baron added.
In the 2025 Pertamina UMK Academy, more than 2,000 UMK players registered. A total of 1,430 selected participants took part in the regional coaching stage, and 760 participants advanced to the national stage. Of that number, 581 participants were declared graduates and moved up a class.
One of them was Melani Septina Mutya Surya, owner of NOBF shoe craft business from Mojokerto, who won first place in the Go Global class of UMK Academy 2025. According to Melani, the coaching she received helped improve product quality while strengthening business development. “Various business training, intensive mentoring, and support for production equipment helped us optimise product development while better understanding market opportunities and conditions for business growth,” Melani said.
Pertamina hopes that more UMK players can experience similar benefits through Pertamina UMK Academy 2026. “Pertamina invites UMK players from various sectors and regions to take advantage of this opportunity. We hope more local businesses grow resilient, independent, creative, and competitive, and provide economic impact for the surrounding community,” Baron concluded.
