Pertamina records 11.8% increase in Pertamax consumption during peak homecoming rush
Many people choose the Pertamax Series to keep their vehicles performing optimally during journeys. Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Pertamina (Persero) recorded an 11.8% increase in consumption of the Pertamax fuel product on 20 March 2026, or H-1 before Eid, which is one of the peaks of the homecoming flow. “Homecoming journeys are synonymous with long distances and dynamic traffic conditions. Therefore, many people choose the Pertamax Series to keep vehicle performance optimal during the trip,” said Vice President of Corporate Communication at PT Pertamina (Persero), Muhammad Baron, in an official statement received in Jakarta on Wednesday. Baron revealed that the increase in consumption of various Pertamax variants compared to the normal daily average in January 2026 shows that more people are choosing quality fuel. This is believed to support more comfortable and optimal long-distance travel. On 20 March 2026, or H-1 before Eid, which is one of the peaks of the return flow, Pertamax (RON 92) consumption was recorded to have increased by 11.8% compared to the normal period daily average. Meanwhile, the environmentally friendly Pertamax Green (RON 95) product recorded the highest increase, namely 94.7% compared to the normal period. This surge indicates growing public interest in more environmentally friendly fuel. Pertamax Turbo, intended for high-performance vehicles, also experienced a 34.5% increase in consumption compared to the normal daily average. Baron added that the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr period, especially during holiday moments, is synonymous with increased public mobility, both for returning to hometowns or holidays. To anticipate this, he acknowledged that Pertamina is endeavouring to meet the public’s energy needs during the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 2026 period well. Pertamina has increased supply stocks well in advance and prepared various additional services on attention routes, namely homecoming routes and tourist locations such as 24-hour alert petrol stations, motorist fuel and LPG escorts, as well as energy service points on strategic routes. “We are striving to ensure that people’s journeys during this Eid moment run comfortably until the return flow ends,” said Baron. Nevertheless, Baron reminded the public to maintain energy consumption according to their needs. “In line with the Middle East conflict affecting the global energy situation, Pertamina urges the public to jointly maintain the fuel and LPG supplies already provided by Pertamina. Active public participation in conserving energy, such as buying according to needs and carrying out energy efficiency, will help ensure energy availability in Indonesia,” said Baron.
