Pertamina Readies 29 Fuel Terminals for B50 Biodiesel Distribution

PT Pertamina Patra Niaga has declared its readiness to support the government’s policy on implementing B50 Biodiesel. A total of 29 out of Pertamina’s 126 fuel terminals are prepared to distribute B50 in the form of Biosolar as of 1 July 2026. Vice President Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, Kitty Andhora, explained that the number of terminals serving B50 distribution will gradually increase during the transition period. “Today, 29 of Pertamina’s 126 terminals are ready to distribute B50 in accordance with the government’s stipulations,” Kitty stated in Jakarta on Wednesday (1/7). This implementation refers to the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Decree Number 257.K/EK.01/MEM.E/2026 concerning the Mandatory Blending of 50 Percent Biodiesel-Type Biofuel with Diesel Fuel Oil. Under this regulation, the government provides leeway for fuel business entities that still hold B40 stocks. Business entities are given the opportunity to distribute their B40 supplies until 30 September 2026. Pertamina is conducting strict monitoring to ensure the distribution process from terminals to distributors and the public runs without obstacles. President Prabowo Subianto previously announced the launch of B50 in July 2026 as a strategic step towards energy self-sufficiency. The President is optimistic that increasing the biodiesel content will bring significant foreign exchange savings for the country. “I estimate that in three years, a maximum of four years, we will achieve energy self-sufficiency. We do not want to import anything for our fuel, for our energy,” President Prabowo asserted. According to the President, energy independence is crucial to protect the public from global oil price volatility and disruptions to global distribution routes, such as those currently occurring in the Strait of Hormuz. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has confirmed that all sectors are ready to implement the mandatory B50 policy. Ministry spokesperson Dwi Anggia stated that B50 trials have been conducted on various modes of transport and heavy equipment. “B50 has been tested on various vehicles, such as heavy equipment, ships, trains, and other vehicles like mining equipment, excavators, and agricultural machinery,” Anggia explained. The government has confirmed that the implementation of B50 will be carried out simultaneously across all regions of Indonesia after being officially inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto this month.
