PT Pertamina (Persero) is continuing to intensively monitor the very large crude carrier (VLCC) Pertamina Pride, which remains in the Strait of Hormuz area. The supervision is being carried out in real-time, prioritising safety and the development of the security situation in the region. Pertamina’s President Commissioner, Mochamad Iriawan, said the company is constantly monitoring the vessel owned by PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) before it continues its voyage. “Meanwhile, for other fleets such as the VLCC Pertamina Pride in the Arabian Gulf, it is currently preparing to move while continuously evaluating risk developments and international recommendations,” Iriawan said when met in Jakarta on Friday (26/6). According to information from PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS), the VLCC Pertamina Pride is still in the preparation stage for sailing. The departure decision will consider the development of the security situation, shipping traffic conditions, route congestion levels, various potential risks, and recommendations from international authorities. Iriawan explained that PIS has also activated a crisis centre operating 24 hours a day to monitor conditions on the ground. The team is coordinating intensively with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Iran to ensure every development can be responded to swiftly. “Hopefully the VLCC Pertamina Pride can also be released soon and come to Indonesia,” he said. Amid the monitoring process for Pertamina Pride, Pertamina confirmed that the Gamsunoro vessel successfully crossed the Strait of Hormuz safely on Wednesday (24/6) local time. “Alhamdulillah, Gamsunoro has been released from the Strait of Hormuz. We have seen it, it has exited, and has reached a safe point,” said Iriawan. Previously, PT Pertamina International Shipping reported that Gamsunoro began its voyage from the Arabian Gulf area on Wednesday (24/6) at 01.06 Dubai time or around 04.06 Western Indonesia Time. The vessel sailed for approximately 16 hours at a speed of around 7.5 knots. Gamsunoro arrived at the mouth of the Strait of Hormuz at around 13.00 local time or 16.00 Western Indonesia Time. Four hours later, the vessel was declared to have successfully crossed the strait and reached an area deemed safe. The successful voyage of Gamsunoro is part of PT Pertamina International Shipping’s efforts to maintain smooth energy distribution operations amid global geopolitical dynamics. The Strait of Hormuz itself is one of the world’s most strategic energy shipping lanes, so all vessel movements in the area require strict supervision and risk mitigation.
