Jakarta — Pertamina Patra Niaga continues to strengthen the company’s commitment to empowering women across its operating regions in observance of International Women’s Day. The women’s empowerment programme is implemented across 49 points nationwide, with 695 women receiving mentoring to grow economically and socially. The programme opens learning spaces, builds confidence, and encourages women to advance their roles within families and communities.

Pertamina Patra Niaga Corporate Secretary, Roberth M. V. Dumatubun, said that International Women’s Day serves as an important reminder of the need to strengthen women’s contributions to sustainable development. ‘We believe that when women are given access to learning spaces, business opportunities, and capacity-building, the impact will be felt directly in the resilience of family economies and communities at large,’ he said, as quoted from his statement, Saturday, 7 March 2026.

One flagship initiative is implemented through Integrated Terminal Makassar with the PUANMAKARI (Perempuan Mandiri, Anak Percaya Diri) initiative. The programme began as a shelter for victims of domestic violence (KDRT) and has since evolved into a space for the empowerment of women and children on a sustainable basis. PUANMAKARI is a flagship programme of Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sulawesi and has won PROPER Gold for two consecutive years (2023 and 2024) from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK). A total of 103 women and 230 children have received mentoring through this programme. The shelter and empowerment curriculum have been established, while 36 women and adolescent girls have progressed through various productive ventures developed together.

Economically, Sekolah Anak Percaya Diri reports revenue growth of Rp 51,984,000, while Kelompok Srikandi has generated revenue of Rp 86,640,000 from productive activities developed by Kelompok Srikandi.

Positive effects of the programme have also been felt by parents. Wahida Rahman, a parent of a Sekolah Anak Percaya Diri student, said: ‘My child used to be shy and withdrawn. Now they are more creative and respectful to their parents. It is hoped that this programme will continue with increasingly high-quality learning.’

Meanwhile, in Kampung Atas Air, Pertamina Patra Niaga through Refinery Unit V Balikpapan runs the RAWABENING programme (Rain Water Harvesting and Urban Farming). This programme promotes women’s empowerment through urban farming activities that use rainfall as a water source for hydroponic systems.
