Pertamina Patra Niaga Sailors Celebrate Eid al-Fitr at Sea, Ensuring National Energy Supply Remains Secure
In the midst of the warm atmosphere of Eid al-Fitr, synonymous with family togetherness, hundreds of Pertamina Patra Niaga sailors continue to carry out their duties at sea to ensure that national energy distribution runs smoothly. One of them is Captain Arendra, a sailor assigned to the Pertamina Gas 2 vessel. This year marks the third time for Captain Arendra to celebrate Eid al-Fitr in the middle of the ocean. He admits that the Eid al-Fitr moment is the most difficult because he has to be separated from his family, especially his wife and child. “When the takbir resounds, that’s the moment that feels the most poignant. Usually, we gather with family, now we can only do it via video call. But this is already part of our responsibility, to ensure that energy continues to reach the community,” said Arendra. A similar story is experienced by Captain Basuki, one of the sailors who also helps maintain the smooth distribution of energy at sea. For Basuki, Eid al-Fitr is not just about celebration, but also about fulfilling the trust to ensure energy remains available for the people throughout the country. “Although we can’t gather with family, we on the ship are already like a second family. We strengthen each other and continue to carry out our duties with full responsibility. There’s a special pride when I and the crew of Pertamina Gas 1 can still contribute to the community at an important moment like this,” Basuki revealed. Even though far from family, the Eid al-Fitr atmosphere still feels warm on board the ship. The sailors perform Eid al-Fitr prayers together on the deck and share simple dishes, strengthening camaraderie among the crew amid limitations. The moment of mutual forgiveness takes on deep meaning. Amid longing for family at home, the sailors continue to demonstrate high dedication in carrying out their duties. The role of the sailors is crucial in maintaining the smooth distribution of national energy, especially during the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr period, which is synonymous with increased energy consumption. Through sea-based distribution routes, energy is channelled to various regions in Indonesia, including areas that rely on maritime access. During this Eid al-Fitr 1447 H period, more than 345 Pertamina Patra Niaga vessel fleets are on full alert to ensure that energy supplies remain safe and maintained. The sailors become the frontline guardians in that distribution chain, ensuring energy is available on time throughout Indonesia. The dedication of these sailors serves as a reminder that behind the comfort of the community in celebrating Eid al-Fitr, there is an important role played by individuals who continue to work tirelessly. With a spirit of service and professionalism, Pertamina Patra Niaga sailors continue to ensure that energy flows for the nation, whenever and wherever.
