Pertamina Patra Niaga continues to strengthen community empowerment based on clean energy through the Desa Energi Berdikari Uma Palak Lestari programme in the Subak Sembung area, Denpasar, Bali. This commitment was realised through the distribution of assistance in the form of three electric tractors and one electric rice thresher (dores). The assistance was handed over by the President Commissioner of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, Sabar Yudo Suroso, together with Commissioner of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, Wanti Waranei F. Mamahit, on Monday (3/8).

Sabar said Pertamina Patra Niaga not only strives to provide energy access for the community, but also encourages the use of energy that can create economic added value and improve community welfare.

“We hope this agricultural machinery can help farmers’ operational activities, accelerate land and agricultural product processing, and reduce costs that the community must incur,” said Sabar.

Uma Palak Lestari is a group fostered by the Aviation Fuel Terminal (AFT) Ngurah Rai, which is part of Pertamina Patra Niaga’s Desa Energi Berdikari Programme. The programme involves around 35 members of a joint business group engaged in agriculture, local product processing, and ecotourism development.

The community in the area develops various agricultural commodities, such as shallots, chillies, tomatoes, vegetables, butterfly pea flowers, and processed catfish products, which serve as an additional source of income for the group.

Not only developing the agricultural sector, Uma Palak Lestari also optimises renewable energy potential through a micro-hydro power plant named Si Uma. The energy produced is used to support productive community activities, including street lighting for farm roads that helps smooth daily agricultural activities.

Uma Palak Lestari Programme Coordinator, Wayan Segadanom, said the electric agricultural machinery assistance provided by Pertamina Patra Niaga further strengthens the agricultural support facilities already owned by the group.

“With these additional tools, land cultivation that was previously done manually can become faster. This assistance is very useful for reducing time and land processing costs so that agricultural activities become more effective,” said Wayan.

A similar sentiment was expressed by Sandi, one of the programme’s beneficiaries. According to him, the various support provided by Pertamina Patra Niaga has helped improve the comfort and smoothness of farmers’ activities.

“Pertamina’s support for farmers here is very beneficial. We received tractor assistance, road repairs, and irrigation improvements that greatly help daily agricultural activities,” said Sandi.

Pertamina Patra Niaga continues to encourage the use of energy to create economic added value, increase community self-reliance, and support sustainable development. This programme is in line with the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 2 Zero Hunger, Goal 7 Affordable and Clean Energy, and Goal 8 Decent Work and Economic Growth.
