Pertamina Patra Niaga has reaffirmed its commitment to accelerating the normalisation of fuel distribution in the North Sumatra region by ensuring the Integrated Terminal Medan Group operates smoothly for 24 hours. Director of Downstream Optimisation and Distribution, Hari Purnomo, stated that the company is also optimising operations at the Pematang Siantar Fuel Terminal, Kisaran Fuel Terminal, and Lhokseumawe Integrated Terminal, all of which are running 24 hours a day to support the delivery of fuel to petrol stations across North Sumatra. ‘Currently, fuel stocks at the Integrated Terminal Medan Group are in a safe condition. To increase distribution capacity, Pertamina Patra Niaga has added 30 tanker trucks through a spot charter scheme, specifically focused on accelerating deliveries to petrol stations,’ Hari said in a statement on Thursday, 16 July 2026. He added that in addition to strengthening terminal operations, the company is also optimising services at petrol stations. Several stations in the affected areas of Medan are now operating 24 hours a day to make it easier for the public to obtain fuel. The reinforcement of tanker truck crews by Elnusa Petrofin, a transportation partner, is being bolstered through cooperation with the Army Logistics and Transportation Corps to support smooth distribution operations. ‘We are ensuring that all distribution infrastructure in the North Sumatra region is working optimally. The 24-hour terminal operations, the addition of tanker trucks, the reinforcement of tanker crew personnel, and the 24-hour operation of petrol stations are steps we are taking to accelerate the normalisation of fuel distribution as quickly as possible. We are also continuously strengthening coordination with all stakeholders to ensure the distribution process runs smoothly,’ Hari said. He also clarified that there is no strike action by tanker truck crews. Pertamina Patra Niaga is committed to maintaining the reliability of fuel distribution by ensuring all operational processes comply with established standards. ‘We have zero tolerance for any violations that could disrupt distribution reliability or service to the public. If any personnel are proven not to have followed operational procedures, the company will take firm action in accordance with applicable regulations,’ he added.
