Pertamina Patra Niaga Implements GARBATERA for Sustainable Community Empowerment and Boosting Local MSMEs

PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Integrated Terminal (IT) Balongan has reinforced its commitment to providing benefits to the community through its Community Involvement & Development (CID) programme. One key initiative is the Gerakan Balongan Sehat dan Sejahtera (GARBATERA), designed as a community empowerment movement addressing various social and health issues in the operational areas surrounding Balongan, Indramayu Regency. The main focus of GARBATERA includes handling stunting and fulfilling nutritional needs for children and pregnant women, controlling and preventing infectious diseases, and sustainable community empowerment by supporting local MSMEs. VP Corporate Communication of Pertamina Patra Niaga, Kitty Andhora, stated that the programme is a tangible manifestation of the company’s presence in transforming the lives of communities around its operational areas for the better. “Health and community empowerment are two fundamental pillars for creating an independent society. This is also a primary investment to strengthen the nation and state in the future. Through the GARBATERA programme, Pertamina Patra Niaga is proud to be part of this effort,” Kitty said. The GARBATERA programme was initiated by Pertamina Patra Niaga IT Balongan in 2025 by intervening in stunting cases in Balongan Village. In the same year, coinciding with National Nutrition Day, the programme was strengthened with the NASIHAT (Istana Ibu dan Anak) campaign by distributing Supplementary Food Provisions (PMT) produced by the OMSET (Olahan Makanan Sehat) group, a local MSME group that is also part of GARBATERA. Kitty added that in the same year, Pertamina Patra Niaga also responded quickly to Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever (DBD) cases in Indramayu Regency by providing training for Posyandu cadres on 3M Plus, handing over fogging equipment assistance, and distributing PMT to hundreds of toddlers and pregnant women. In 2026, Pertamina Patra Niaga IT Balongan has carried out several health-based and community empowerment programmes under the GARBATERA umbrella. In March 2026, a socialisation activity on the use of Solar Power Plants was held for the Ragem Jaya Farmer Group in Tegalurung Village as part of the Desa Energi Berdikari (Energy Independent Village) programme.
