Pertamina Patra Niaga Establishes Learning Ecosystem for Coastal Children
PT Pertamina Patra Niaga is strengthening its community empowerment programmes in the field of education through various initiatives targeting children within the company’s operational regions. The programme is designed to support educational access, character building, and the improvement of learning environments.
Kitty Andhora, VP of Corporate Communication at Pertamina Patra Niaga, stated that the Community Involvement and Development (CID) programme in education is one of the company’s efforts to support the growth of the younger generation through approaches tailored to the specific needs of each local community. “Pertamina Patra Niaga is committed to supporting education and building character and environmental awareness so that its presence provides real benefits to the community and the younger generation,” Kitty said in a press release.
According to Kitty, investing in education is a long-term investment expected to create higher-quality human resources. Consequently, the company continues to develop various sustainable community empowerment programmes across its operational areas.
One such programme is the ‘Rumah Anak Pesisir’ (RASI), developed by Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sulawesi through the Bitung Integrated Terminal in Bitung, North Sulawesi. This non-formal education programme introduces learning methods adapted to the lives of coastal communities, allowing children to recognise their potential while increasing environmental awareness. Since its implementation in 2023, the RASI programme has reached over 145 children as direct or indirect beneficiaries in the Candi Settlement area, Bitung West I, Bitung.
Over the past two years, the programme has delivered more than 20 educational and character-building activities, including the Coastal Children’s Festival, Coastal Preservation Missions, local tutor capacity building, handicraft activities, and various competitions and national holiday commemorations.
Chika, a local mentor for the RASI programme, stated that the initiative was built to ensure children have equal opportunities in accessing education. “Through Rumah Cinta Kasih, we want every child to feel the same right to education, love, and affection. We believe great change can start with small steps taken with great love,” Chika said.
In Cilacap, Central Java, Pertamina Patra Niaga’s Cilacap Fuel Terminal, through the Pertamina Peduli Volunteers (Relpi), is running the ‘Tanam Energi Barokah’ (TEBAR) 4.0 Programme. This programme distributed educational aid worth over IDR 10 million to SD Negeri Bojong 03 in the Kawunganten District. The aid, sourced from donations by employees and the extended Pertamina family, includes whiteboards, printers, bins, and school stationery packages to support teaching and learning activities.
Farras Khibban, the coordinator of the TEBAR 4.0 Programme, noted that the assistance is a manifestation of the concern shown by Pertamina volunteers towards the world of education. “This is a form of care from Pertamina volunteers and the extended Pertamina family towards education. We hope this assistance further strengthens the children’s spirit to continue learning and achieve their dreams,” Farras said.
