Pertamina Patra Niaga Empowers Women Through Local-Based CSR Programmes
Empowering women means opening more opportunities for families and communities to grow together. This spirit is being realised by PT Pertamina Patra Niaga through various Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes based on local potential, namely PUANMAKARI by the Makassar Integrated Terminal (IT), Posyandu Aster by the Pontianak IT, and Mina Tenun by the Avtur Fuel Terminal (AFT BIL). All three initiatives encourage women to become more independent, productive, and active within their environments.
In Makassar, PUANMAKARI (Independent Women, Confident Children) has been developed as a centre for the empowerment and protection of women and children through parenting classes, child education, women’s learning groups, entrepreneurship training, and legal assistance. The programme has reached 57 children, 1le 18 women, 14 impoverished residents, and 11 elderly individuals, while also promoting the development of seafood processing businesses through Dapur Perlawanan.
Meanwhile, in Pontianak, Posyandu Aster has been developed not only as a health service centre but also as a space for community empowerment through education, environmentalism, and social entrepreneurship. Through CV Aster Kulina Prima, the community, particularly women, gains economic opportunities with a monthly turnover of approximately Rp2–3.5 million to support the operation of the health post while creating business opportunities.
The Chairperson of Posyandu Aster, Nurul Azizah Novihayati, stated that women need space to grow and take on roles within their surroundings. “Women do not only need their health to be maintained, but they also need space to grow, learn, make decisions, and become empowered. Because empowered women will become drivers for their families and their environments,” said Nurul.
In Central Lombok, the Mina Tenun programme integrates the empowerment of female weavers with cultural preservation and clean energy. Running since 2022, the programme is being developed for 2026 through the modification of Non-Machine Looms (ATBM) to serve as an energy source to support pumps and the provision of clean water for the community.
The VP of Corporate Communication at PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, Kitty Andhora, stated that women’s empowerment is a vital part of the company’s efforts to create independent and resilient communities. “Pertamina Patra Niaga believes that women play an important role as drivers of families and society. Therefore, women’s empowerment must be realised by providing space to learn, develop skills, make decisions, and build economic independence,” said Kitty.
According to Kitty, these three programmes demonstrate that empowerment can be developed according to the potential and needs of the community in each region. “We want Pertamina Patra Niaga’s CSR programmes to not stop at mere assistance, but to evolve into an empowerment ecosystem that makes the community the primary actors. When women have the opportunity to grow and be independent, the benefits will be felt by their families and the surrounding environment,” she concluded.
