Pertamina Patra Niaga Empowers Disabled MSMEs to Create High-Quality Products

The 2026 Indonesia Fashion Week (IFW) showcased stories of struggle and resilience from MSMEs fostered by Pertamina Patra Niaga. Beyond a mere exhibition of fashion and handicrafts, several products on display were the handiwork of vulnerable groups, including people with disabilities.

One example was the clothing displayed at the Narita Shibori MSME booth. This enterprise not only produces economically valuable goods but also serves as an inclusive space for the marginalised. In creating its products, Narita Shibori engages children with special needs from Rumah Hasanah Bandung and SLB Negeri 4 Jakarta, giving its products not just aesthetic appeal but also deep social value.

Another story came from the Dara Baro MSME booth, also a fostered partner of Pertamina Patra Niaga. This Aceh-based enterprise operates in sustainable fashion, utilising waste fabric from the Indonesian archipelago, such as jumputan, woven textiles, and batik, to produce high-value clothing using the Japanese boro technique. Boro is a production method involving sewing and patching (upcycling) used fabrics into new garments, meaning Dara Baro’s products are not only beautiful but also environmentally friendly.

This human touch and sustainability value caught the attention of Pertamina Patra Niaga’s Independent Commissioner, Siti Zahra Aghnia, during her visit to the energy company’s booth on Sunday (2/8). She highlighted how each product holds a powerful and touching story of empowerment.

“These products have extraordinary value because they empower great groups within society. There are works from our brothers and sisters with disabilities, which are not only attractive for daily use but also prove that people with disabilities are capable of producing high-quality work. This is tangible proof of how a product can provide benefits and sustain the livelihoods of many people,” said Siti Zahra, as quoted from her statement on Thursday (6/8/2026).

She also requested that Pertamina Patra Niaga continue to expand its mentoring and development programmes for MSMEs, so that more parties can feel the benefits, especially around the company’s operational areas. According to her, the development programme run by Pertamina Patra Niaga not only expands the market for local MSMEs but also strengthens the nation’s economic foundation starting from the local level.
