The Board of Commissioners of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga has confirmed that fuel oil (BBM) distribution in the Riau Islands is in a safe condition.

Pertamina Patra Niaga’s President Commissioner Sabar Yudo Suroso said on Wednesday (5/8/2026) that the board reviewed the company’s operational readiness, security of national vital objects, and the implementation of community empowerment programmes in the Riau Islands.

Sabar was accompanied by Commissioners Bambang Suswantono and Wanti Waranei F Mamahit, Independent Commissioner Siti Zahra Aghnia, and Pertamina Patra Niaga’s Director of Compliance and Institutional Affairs Kadek Ambara Jaya.

The delegation visited the Tanjung Uban Integrated Terminal, Education Unit (Satdik) 1 of the Indonesian Navy in Tanjung Uban, and a community involvement and development (CID) programme called ‘Kampung Bahari Si Pelaut’, which is supported by the Hang Nadim Aviation Fuel Terminal in Batam.

‘This inspection is part of the Board of Commissioners’ oversight function to ensure that energy operations and distribution run properly,’ Sabar said in a statement on Sunday, 9 August 2026.

The delegation also discussed the security of national vital objects with the Indonesian Navy. The Tanjung Uban Integrated Terminal has served energy distribution for nearly 100 years and is now one of the terminals with high levels of fuel and LPG receiving and distribution activity.

Throughout 2025, the terminal served around 2,900 ship movements, or an average of more than 200 vessels per month. Standing on 247 hectares of land, the Tanjung Uban Terminal has a storage tank capacity of 401,000 kilolitres of fuel and 93,500 metric tonnes of LPG.

From Tanjung Uban, fuel is distributed to several areas along the eastern coast of Sumatra, particularly the northern and some southern parts, as well as to West Kalimantan.

Kadek Ambara said the high level of ship activity and the wide distribution area demonstrate the importance of the Tanjung Uban Integrated Terminal’s role in maintaining smooth energy distribution.

The visit also provided an opportunity for management to hear directly about the various operational challenges faced by workers in the field.

‘The Tanjung Uban Integrated Terminal is one of the busiest terminals and serves as the backbone of energy distribution in Sumatra, while also supporting distribution to Kalimantan. With such high activity, facility readiness, operational reliability, and the security of national vital objects must be continuously maintained so that energy distribution to the public continues to run smoothly,’ Kadek said.
