BEKASI, KOMPAS.com – PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Jawa Bagian Barat has apologised for the incident involving a fire at the Stasiun Pengisian Bulk Elpiji (SPBE) in Cimuning, Mustika Jaya, Bekasi City, which impacted several residents’ homes and resulted in injuries.
“First and foremost, Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Jawa Bagian Barat, along with the SPBE, extends its apologies for the incident that occurred. Our current focus is on handling the situation and ensuring that there are no further widespread impacts,” stated Area Manager for Communication, Relations & CSR at Pertamina Regional JBB, Susanto August Satria, to the media near the SPBE Cimuning on Thursday (2/4/2026).
Pertamina has assured that it will take full responsibility for both the victims and the affected residents of the fire.
He emphasised that all medical treatment costs for the victims will be covered by the company.
“For the affected victims, we ensure that the best medical care will be provided, and all costs will be covered,” he said.
In addition to victim care, Pertamina is also opening avenues for compensation for residents whose homes have been damaged.
Data collection will be conducted jointly with local government, from the RT and RW levels up to the kelurahan, to determine the number and extent of the damage.
To date, Pertamina has not been able to ascertain the exact cause of the fire, as it is awaiting the results of the investigation from the authorities.
Amid the incident, Pertamina has assured that LPG distribution to the public is not disrupted.
He explained that the SPBE Cimuning is a Pertamina partner managed by a private entity and has been operational since 2009, when the surrounding environment was not as densely populated as it is now.
“This is a Pertamina partner managed by the private sector and it has the necessary permits,” he said.
Previously reported, a major fire engulfed the SPBE Cimuning on Wednesday night (1/4/2026). The burnt area spanned approximately 2,000 square metres.
“The land that burnt is around 2,000 square metres. Preliminary suspicions point to an electrical short circuit,” stated Acting Head of Damkar Bekasi City, Heryanto.
Heryanto explained that the extinguishing process faced challenges because the fire involved gas, which requires special handling.
“Gas like this needs special handling and the fire points must be mapped out,” he said.
