Pertamina Patra Niaga Aids Stunting Reduction Through Nutrition Programme for Children and Pregnant Women

PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Integrated Terminal Balongan, West Java, is assisting in stunting reduction through the Gerakan Balongan Sehat dan Sejahtera (GARBATERA) programme, which focuses on fulfilling the nutritional needs of children and pregnant women, as well as sustainable community empowerment in Indramayu, West Java. VP Corporate Communication of Pertamina Patra Niaga, Kitty Andhora, stated that the company is committed to providing benefits to the community through its community involvement and development (CID) programmes, one of which is GARBATERA. “This programme is designed as a community empowerment movement addressing various social and health issues in the operational area surrounding Balongan, Indramayu Regency,” Kitty said in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday. She noted that the programme’s main focus and activities include stunting reduction and nutritional fulfilment for children and pregnant women, control and prevention of infectious diseases, and sustainable community empowerment by supporting local MSMEs. Kitty explained that the programme is a tangible manifestation of Pertamina Patra Niaga’s presence in transforming the lives of communities around its operational areas for the better. For her, health and community empowerment are two fundamental pillars for creating an independent society. This also serves as a primary investment to strengthen the nation and state in the future. “Through the GARBATERA programme, Pertamina Patra Niaga is proud to be part of that effort,” Kitty said. The programme was initiated by Pertamina Patra Niaga Integrated Terminal (IT) Balongan in 2025 by intervening in stunting cases in Balongan Village. In the same year, precisely on National Nutrition Day, a similar programme was strengthened with the NASIHAT (Istana Ibu dan Anak) campaign by distributing supplementary food produced by the OMSET (Olahan Makanan Sehat) group, a local MSME group that is also part of the GARBATERA programme. Kitty added that in the same year, Pertamina Patra Niaga, through the programme, also responded swiftly to dengue fever cases in Indramayu Regency by providing training for Posyandu cadres on 3M Plus, handing over fogging equipment, and distributing supplementary food to hundreds of toddlers and pregnant women. “In 2026, Pertamina Patra Niaga IT Balongan has implemented a number of health-based and community empowerment programmes under the GARBATERA umbrella,” she said. In March 2026, a socialisation event on the use of Solar Power Plants was held as part of the Desa Energi Berdikari Programme for the Ragem Jaya Farmers Group in Tegalurung Village. Then, in May 2026, the GARBATERA Programme held a “Healthy Talk: Towards a Strong Balongan Through Early Detection of Family Health Starting from Home” event to strengthen the role of families in early health detection. In the same month, Pertamina Patra Niaga IT Balongan enhanced the capacity and capability of the OMSET Group through fish processing training organised by the Indramayu Regency Cooperative, Trade, and Industry Office. “We are not only focused on improving nutrition to reduce stunting rates and dengue cases in Balongan, but also ensuring there is an economic multiplier effect felt by residents,” Kitty concluded.
