Pertamina NRE Supports IDXCarbon's "I Am Net-Zero Hero" Campaign, Provides Carbon Credits
In the midst of the escalating impacts of climate change felt in daily life, Earth Day serves as a reminder that concrete actions can no longer be postponed. Addressing this urgency, IDXCarbon, together with Pertamina New & Renewable Energy (Pertamina NRE), PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk, and Jejakin, launched the “I AM NET-ZERO HERO” campaign on Wednesday (22/04/2026) at the Indonesia Stock Exchange building as a collaborative initiative to encourage public participation in low-carbon lifestyles through simple, measurable, and widely accessible steps.
Pertamina NRE, as a pioneer in carbon credit trading on IDXCarbon, first traded its carbon credits sourced from the Lahendong geothermal power plant units 5 and 6 projects. This time, Pertamina NRE is issuing carbon credits from a different project, namely the biogas power plant (PLTBg) in the Sei Mangkei Special Economic Zone (KEK) managed by it. These carbon credits contribute in the form of joint campaign actions for carbon emission reductions through Livin’ Planet in the Livin’ by Mandiri application, Bank Mandiri’s mobile banking app. The campaign also involves Jejakin in its carbon calculations.
Through this campaign, the public, especially Livin’ by Mandiri users, are introduced to the concept of carbon offset, a mechanism for compensating carbon emissions produced by purchasing carbon credits that support verified emission reduction projects. This was emphasised by the Director of Human Resources & Business Support at Pertamina NRE, A.A.A. Indira Pratyaksa, where the campaign directly links individual actions to real impacts on the ground.
“When someone performs offsetting, they are actually supporting real projects like waste processing into energy in Sei Mangkei. That is the essence of energy transition, how every small step can be converted into sustainable environmental and social impacts,” she stated.
The launch of the “I AM NET-ZERO HERO” campaign also forms part of efforts to expand public literacy on carbon markets while building an inclusive and credible ecosystem. By providing broader access to the public, this collaboration is expected to encourage active public participation in addressing global challenges towards Indonesia’s Net Zero Emission target by 2060.
