IDXCarbon, together with Pertamina New & Renewable Energy (Pertamina NRE), PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk, and Jejakin, launched the “I AM NET-ZERO HERO” campaign at the Indonesia Stock Exchange building. This campaign is a collaborative initiative to encourage the public to participate in low-carbon lifestyles through simple, measurable, and widely accessible steps.

Pertamina NRE, as a pioneer in carbon credit trading on IDXCarbon, first traded its carbon credits sourced from the Lahendong geothermal power plant units 5 and 6 projects.

This time, Pertamina NRE is again issuing carbon credits from a different project, namely the biogas power plant (PLTBg) in the Sei Mangkei Special Economic Zone managed by the company. These carbon credits contribute in the form of campaign actions together with carbon emission reductions through Livin’ Planet in the Livin’ by Mandiri mobile banking app, owned by Bank Mandiri. The campaign also partners with Jejakin for carbon calculations.

Through this campaign, the public, especially Livin’ by Mandiri users, are introduced to the concept of carbon offsetting, which is a mechanism to compensate for generated carbon emissions by purchasing carbon credits that support verified emission reduction projects. This was emphasised by Pertamina NRE’s Director of Human Resources & Business Support, A.A.A. Indira Pratyaksa, where the campaign directly links individual actions to real impacts on the ground.

“When someone performs offsetting, they are actually supporting real projects like waste processing into energy in Sei Mangkei. That is the essence of the energy transition, how every small step can be converted into sustainable environmental and social impacts,” she stated in an official release on Monday (27/4/2026).

The launch of the I AM NET-ZERO HERO campaign also forms part of efforts to expand public literacy on the carbon market while building an inclusive and credible ecosystem. By providing broader access to the public, this collaboration is expected to encourage active public participation in addressing global challenges towards Indonesia’s 2060 Net Zero Emission target.

The Sei Mangkei PLTBg has a capacity of 2.4 Megawatts (MW) and processes palm oil mill effluent (POME) or liquid palm oil waste (POME) to generate electricity, thereby significantly contributing to reducing methane gas emissions. This project reflects how clean energy-based solutions not only contribute to emission reductions but also bring economic added value and sustainability at the operational level.

“Climate change is no longer a long-term issue; we are already feeling its impacts today. Therefore, actions must start now and involve all parties. Through this collaboration, we want to provide solutions that make individual contributions easier, measurable, and directly connected to real impacts on the ground,” Indira concluded.
